Recap: Fall Break week!

We had a fun week!  It was a short week too, and while it felt busy at times, it wasn't really.  We were reminded at church to keep doing the daily things we need to do to strengthen ourselves and our families because Satan is working hard here.  We've been working on helping the youngest memorize the Articles of Faith for a challenge that we were given recently.  It's going pretty well!

Monday: I realized my kids have two weeks left in Fix It! Grammar book 2, so I started printing and preparing the next student manuals for them.  Our history lesson was on the Freedom Trail, the First Continental Congress, Patrick Henry, Paul Revere, Lexington and Concord, Minutemen, the Second Continental Congress, and the events that led up to the Revolutionary War.  I had a follow up eye doctor appointment to see how my new trial contact is fitting and working for me.

She made me food to help me feel better, that's a THM cupcake, a THM sandwich, and THM peach juice.

Tuesday: I woke up with a sore throat and started to feel sicker as the day went on.  In literature we discussed the differences between the settings of Venice and Belmont, and how the people in each place have different values.  We're still studying The Merchant of Venice.  My mom brought her fish over for my daughter to care for while Mom is camping.

Wednesday: Today my throat didn't feel as bad, but I sure talked funny.  We learned about mass, volume, and density and had fun figuring some things out for ourselves.  My oldest watched a Face to Face event with her friend, it was with Studio C.  Even though we're not huge fans of the show, it's nice to know these people have good values and care about presenting clean entertainment.  E went to a girls activity where they decorated and delivered cookies.

Thursday: No school for the rest of the week!  I felt back to normal today.  My kids watched the movie Beethoven (the St. Bernard one).  They found that the little girl wears a shirt made from the same fabric that I have used for many items here!  We took a trip to Deseret Book for some books and Lion House Orange Rolls, picked up my new contacts, and received our orders from Goulet Pens and JetPens.  Happy Inktober!  My girls REALLY enjoyed experimenting with the new water brush.

Friday: I'm feeling a lot of stress today because of some "life" issues.  I kept busy though, I made 3 freezer meals to try out the FreezEasy Make One Freeze One Challenge.  I also made a batch breakfast pockets so the kids will have some easy breakfasts next week.  After all that cooking I sliced my finger open while cleaning the stove... it was pretty bad.  I grated my pinky a couple months ago and now I have a pointer that will have a matching scar.  I took my son to my parents house to mow their lawn, and he and my daughter did our yard too.  We borrowed the new Jungle Book from the library and watched it with the kids.  My husband and I previewed it the previous night, and we were worried at how scary it would be for our youngest.  I asked her to sit with me during some scary parts and we talked about what was happening, and she did fine.

It was nice to have a different schedule for a couple of days.  We're ready to jump back in next week!  Have a great weekend!

  1. Looks like a great week! Sorry you weren't feeling well during part of it, but how sweet of your little helper to bring you some treats to help you feel better. I meant to participate in the MyFreezEasy challenge, but haven't started yet. Oops.
