Understanding Color in Photography Book Review

Photography has become a hobby for many people in this house! We received the opportunity to review Understanding Color in Photography by Bryan Peterson a few months ago. Since we love this author's other books, we were excited to learn more from him and see what this book could do to help improve our skills.

You're Saying It Wrong - Book Review

We love books, and we love words. When you put those two together you get some people who are excited to review books like You're Saying It Wrong by Ross Petras and Kathryn Petras.

As soon as the package arrive, my son begged to open it. He shouted "Hooray!' when he saw what it was. I didn't see the book again for a few days, but I did get many reports on a lot of the words included!

Book Review: Photographs from the Edge

Photography has been a hobby of mine for quite some time.  I've spent time learning how to use my camera and how to use the different modes.  I know what all the settings mean and how and when to use them.  I've learned the basics of Lightroom and use it with Photoshop Elements.  I really enjoy any time spent with my camera, I just wish I had more time to practice!  As a busy mom, my children are usually my subjects.  When we go hiking or on vacation I get to try out landscape and nature photography.  But I always feel like I'm lacking ideas because this is not what I usually photograph.

Spark Joy Book Review

I haven't read Marie Kondo's first book, The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up.  So I was skeptical about reading this book and not understanding her methods.  There was no need for me to feel that way!  In the introduction she asks if you are committed to tidying up.  If so, this book is for you!  If you are not committed, read the first book.  She also mentions that Spark Joy is like an encyclopedia of tidying up.  So Spark Joy is where I began!

Trim Healthy Mama Plan: Book Review

I received a copy of the new Trim healthy Mama Plan book to review.  I was interested in the differences between the original and new plan books.  The plan itself is easy to follow once you understand the basics, and the book is written in a way that makes it seem quite doable (which it is!).

Trim Healthy Mama

The authors, Pearl and Serene, have been researching health and weight loss for many years.  The say their first book took 5 years and the second came out 3 years later.  Before the books they researched and tried many other ways of eating.  They share their experiences and knowledge in the plan book.  What's most interesting is they are exact opposites in their methods of food preparation.  Serene is more of a food purist, making her own sourdough bread, kefir, and never using a microwave.  Pearl prefers convenience. Their own differing approaches show that this way of eating can work for anyone, and they take time to explain many different options of meals.
