MarshMedia Streaming Videos Review

As a busy mom, I like finding tools that help me teach my kids. MarshMedia is a company that produces health education programs for use in schools, but is reaching out to the homeschool community to share their videos with us. We got to review the streaming videos available through their Homeschool Special, and I found them to be a helpful way to teach my kids good grooming, safety, and health information. It's always nice to hear something from someone other than mom, and it helps reinforce what mom has said!

The First Vision

Early last year we took our kids to visit the newly remodeled Church History Museum. They have a 240 degree panoramic theater that they show a short video in. It's pretty cool, it feels like you are right there in the grove of trees, and it feels like you are moving. Near the end of the video the camera rises above the trees and as we watched this, I noticed my youngest sit up a little stiffer, and grab onto the bench.

You can watch this video at home now! It's called Ask of God. I believe that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ did come to this earth when Joseph Smith prayed to God for an answer to a question he had about the churches near him. The video is only six and a half minutes long. If you are ever in Salt Lake City, Utah please stop by the Church History Museum and see it on the cool screen designed for it! It's a great place to learn about some of Utah's history, and it's free.

Now, I would like to know if there is any way possible to watch this video on our VR headset! My husband says content has to go through a certain site to be available, and I can't just watch any website. Someone change that!

Year 3 Celebration of Learning

I think this was our favorite end of year celebration yet!  We studied Antarctica, Australia, and the Pacific Islands this year.  You can read more about our mini celebrations and presentations here.  The children prepared reports on a Pacific island so we chose to dress up and make food that went along with their choices.  We invited twice as many people this year so I was nervous about having enough food and getting everything ready, but I think it went alright.  There was even a surprise at the end!

Not to be outdone..

J decided today that he wanted to make a stop motion video.  M came up with a great idea then they both worked together to make it happen.  Please excuse the zoom out in the middle, they were called to dinner!

I present the Imperial Chicken March.  He says it's probably the funniest thing on YouTube.

Stop motion video!

We've been studying "The Comedy of Errors" by Shakespeare for the last month or so.  I came across these stop motion videos that another homeschool child had made, and as we finished an act we'd watch the corresponding video.

Today, after the last one, I mentioned that lots of kids make videos like this.  E wanted to know how that worked so I drew pictures in the corner of my notebook and did a quick explanation.  M has her own camera, so she wanted to try.  Thanks to google we figured it out fairly easily!  After watching her first one she knows what she can improve for the next, and is really excited to try again.

Enjoy!
