Photography Class and Eclipse 2017

Last week J and M finished up the BSA photography merit badge. The had to photograph an event or topic of choice, create a presentation using 8-12 images, and then research and discuss careers in photography.

For their presentations they both chose to create a Power Point slideshow of the eclipse last Monday. They documented what we did all day and the changes in the shadows. Neither one of them photographed the sun and moon, though I did take one photo below. We did not want to risk damage to cameras, even with a filter, so one photo was just fine!

I was going to write a blog post about the eclipse but I think their presentations will work just fine! I am adding a couple of my photos below. We were not in the path of totality, but we did have 93% coverage. We made the helmets below when I saw the idea online. They were awesome, I wish I had made one for myself! They kept all light from showing around the glasses. I wore eclipse glasses only and pressed them close to my face and light still showed around them. It was irritating. The "helmets" prevented that.
