2 - The Godhead (52 in 2017)

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe in the Godhead, they are three separate beings, with a singular purpose. It's stated in the scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon). It was clear when Christ was baptized, but not so clear after the apostles died. But it was unquestionable when Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith.

"God stood before him and spoke to him. Joseph could see Him and could hear Him. He was in form like a man, a being of substance. Beside Him was the resurrected Lord, a separate being, whom He introduced as His Beloved Son and with whom Joseph also spoke.
I submit that in the short time of that remarkable vision Joseph learned more concerning Deity than all of the scholars and clerics of the past.

In this divine revelation there was reaffirmed beyond doubt the reality of the literal Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
This knowledge of Deity, hidden from the world for centuries, was the first and great thing which God revealed to His chosen servant."
Gordon B. Hinckley, Chapter 1

God did not intend for this to be confusing, it's supposed to be simple. When he said "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" he meant just that. He was speaking to Christ and we were formed in their likeness. Scholars debating and arguing over who He is made this confusing for everyone. Contention is of the devil.

Lucifer understands the significance of such doctrine, even if we don’t. He said:
“It follows that the devil would rather spread false doctrine about God and the Godhead, and induce false feelings with reference to any one of them, than almost any other thing he could do.”

Between the multiple times of apostasy gospel truths became unclear. The Great Apostasy was a doozy. I am so glad that we have a loving Heavenly Father who has repeatedly taught his children, and that I live in a dispensation of time when there are prophets and the gospel on the earth.

We have been having some really nice storms recently! Driving with all this snow wasn't fun on the way to and from church, but we stayed safe. The weather has turned warm since yesterday though, and what we hoped would be more snow is coming down as rain. After we finished shoveling yesterday my daughter stood on the top of one of our snow piles. My son is in the background, clearing out the snow in front of our neighbor's mailbox.

    1. I do know that, there is a similar statement in the Book of Mormon. The formal doctrine of the Trinity as it was defined by the great church councils of the fourth and fifth centuries is not to be found anywhere in the New Testament.

I am so grateful that God the Father looks upon us, His children in this dispensation, with love and the gift of the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as His prophets to reveal to us the true nature of the Godhead. I have had a personal witness through the Holy Spirit, and I know that anyone can obtain that same witness through prayer that God the Father, Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings of a single Godhead, and are one in unity, thoughts, actions, and purpose of bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. As different religions we are united in the belief of one Godhead and I know he loves all of us, no matter what our interpretation of this topic. :)
