Curriculum Choices 2020-2021

I never did this post for last year. Oops. I like looking back to see what we did.

I thought we had everything figured out a month ago. Then we talked about it and decided to change some things. As usual, something will not be ready in time for us to start school. Maybe next year we won't be using something that is brand new and we won't have that issue!

12th Grade

Can you believe my oldest is entering her last year of high school and homeschool? It's crazy! She just took the ACT and did great! She wants to improve her science score though, so we are switching up our science plans this year so she can study chemistry and physics.

Math: Saxon Advanced Math, Trigonometry + Precalculus
Language Arts: The Good and the Beautiful High School 3 Honors (This one is going to be late, and we're going to have to use it digitally or print it ourselves..) Also includes geography and art.
Government & Economics: Uncle Eric World War I & World War II, Cliff's Notes American Government
Foreign Language: Spanish (The Great Courses)
Elective: Culinary Skills - The Everyday Gourmet (The Great Courses)
Science: Integrated Physics and Chemistry. It's a 9th grade course, but that counts for high school. And it's the only course that combines those two topics into one year. She's also going to use Astronomy: A Self-Teaching Guide.

10th Grade

High school courses are serious stuff! My son is learning all about tracking his time to count certain credits that don't have books and choosing what courses he wants to take.

Math: Saxon Algebra 2
Language Arts: The Good and the Beautiful High School 3 Honors (This one is going to be late, and we're going to have to use it digitally or print it ourselves..) Also includes geography and art.
Government & Economics: Uncle Eric Are You Liberal? COnservative? or Confused, Ancient Rome, Evaluating Books
Foreign Language: Spanish (The Great Courses)
Elective: Financial Literacy, Defending Religious Freedom
Science: Biology

Middle School & Elementary

The younger two will be doing Family School K-8 courses. These books are older and outdated; the lessons are all online now! And you can even have your children learn online in a group. Here's what we will study this year.

History: Rome, Jesus Christ, & the Apostasy
Literature: Short stories, Poetry, Julius Caesar, The Door in the Wall, and The Bronze Bow
Science: Astronomy, Geology
Geography: Europe
Music: Music, A Moral Law
Art: Art of the Middle Ages

7th Grade

This kiddo is growing up fast! I can't believe she's already in seventh grade!

Math: Saxon 8/7; The Checkbook Project
Language Arts
Spelling: Finishing Phonetic Zoo Level C
Utah History

4th Grade

How can the youngest child be this old?
She got to try a sample of Structure and Style for Students from IEW. She LOVED it! I've been teaching them the IEW writing method for many years now, and it will be nice for my two youngest to have a different "teacher."

Math: Saxon 5/4
Language Arts
Penmanship: Cursive Logic Poems, Rhymes and Songs; Cursive Logic U.S. Presidents and Citizens
